We are pleased to announce that Plantation Wharf Pier in Wandsworth was officially opened to river bus passengers on 11 November 2015.
At a ceremony to mark the event, the Mayor of London's River Transport Ambassador Richard Tracey AM and member of Parliament for Battersea, Jane Ellison cut a ribbon and thanked all involved in the project for their hard work and perseverance.
The £2.8 million structure, built and owned by Plantation Wharf Pier LLP, offers Battersea residents a vital river link, and access to MBNA Thames Clippers’ two new 150-passenger high-speed boats – Galaxy Clipper and Neptune Clipper – now entering service.
The new pier will allow regular river bus commuter services running between Putney and Blackfriars to stop at Plantation Wharf, significantly improving transport links for commuters and residents. The pier will also provide space for 9 new residential moorings and 2 leisure mooring spaces.
Thames Clippers MBNA are now operating the extended RB6 commuter service from the Plantation Wharf Pier river bus stop, carrying passengers from Putney to Blackfriars and beyond.
The pier benefits from recently installed pay as you go Oyster readers, improving the experience for regular customers and visitors.
